Hi all, hope everyone is keeping safe and well! Each week I will post work for the children who come to me and hopefully it won’t be long until we are all back in school together!
If anyone wants to contact me with any questions about the work or for extra reading, please don’t hesitate to contact me norma.hanrahan@warrenmountprimary.com Would love to hear from you!
I am aware that the class teachers are also posting work, so just try and do as much as you can and remember to get out and get some fresh air every day! Now is a great opportunity to read to your children at home, it really is so beneficial! There are lots of good websites and apps available such as
Senior Infants Reading Group – Ms Tolan
This week we will focus on /an/ and /en/ word families.
- Please practice these words with your children daily.
- Write them on flashcards and try add more words to the lists.
- On Thursday & Friday, attempt to try and write as many of these words without looking.
- In handwriting, we had been working on writing the letters c, o, a d. Please reinforce the formation of these letters for this week

Reading Recovery – Senior Infants and 1st class children
Reading Recovery Europe are trying to allow access to all the books that the children have been taking home and reading in school. As soon, as this becomes available, I will post the link here! Until then, please see above websites for daily reading.
https://stories.audible.com/start-listen is a great website that children can use to listen to many stories.
Also, continue to do as I had been sending home –
- Let the child write a sentence of their choice and draw a picture (assist with any spelling difficulties and watch the letter formation!)
- Cut up the sentence and rearrange the words
- Play ‘My Pile/ Your Pile’ with the children – they are all familiar with this game!
- Focus on punctuation with particular attention to full stops, commas, bold writing, quotation marks and question marks
There are lots of lovely word searches also available for the children to do
