Seachtain na Gaeilge was a truly exciting and memorable time in our second class this year. The classroom was full of energy as we made a big effort to use our Gaeilge every day. From simple greetings like “Dia dhuit” and “Slán” to short comhrá about the weather and our feelings, the children showed great enthusiasm and confidence.
We took part in lots of fun activities in the classroom throughout the week. The pupils really enjoyed cluichí Gaeilge, art activities, and working together to learn new words and phrases in a playful and engaging way.
One of the highlights of the week was our céilí with the parents. It was wonderful to welcome families into the school and see everyone joining in the dancing. The children were so proud to show what they had learned, and there was a fantastic atmosphere of fun and community.
We also participated in a Céilí Mór. The music, movement, and laughter made it a very special experience for everyone involved.
Another big moment for our class was the ceolchoirm. The children worked very hard practising their performance of “Shotgun as Gaeilge”, and they did an amazing job on the day. They sang with confidence and really enjoyed being on stage.
Seachtain na Gaeilge gave the children a wonderful opportunity to experience the Irish language in a lively and meaningful way. It was fantastic to see their confidence grow and to celebrate our language and culture together as a school community.
