Over the course of two weeks, fifth class have had the pleasure of working with local historian and past pupil, Liz Gillis. On her first week , Liz came into the classroom to talk about some famous places and faces related to the history of the Liberties. She then left the class with a job. Each student was given one or more local street name. Each student had to research and note the history behind these street names.
The next week, Liz met our class at the school gates for a tour of the Liberties. Liz lead the class to famous streets around the area, with the students helping the tour by reading out their research on the street names. The whole class learnt so much from each other and from Liz and are all definetly intrigued to fin out more !!
