We have been very busy in Second Class as we settle into the new school year. It has been lovely catching up with everyone after the summer holidays and hearing all about the adventures and activities we enjoyed.
We have been getting to know our new routines, settling back into school life and, of course, getting stuck into our work. There has been lots of learning, laughter and fun already, and we are looking forward to all the exciting things the year ahead will bring!
In History, we read the wonderful Irish legend of Oisín in Tír na nÓg. We learned about Oisín’s journey to the magical land and imagined what this enchanting place might look like.

We created Todd Parr-inspired self-portraits, using bright colours and bold patterns to show what makes each of us unique.

We also enjoyed reading The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds. Inspired by the story, we designed our own colourful and creative dots, reminding us that everyone can be an artist and that sometimes all it takes is a little courage to make a start!

We also worked together to create our Class Promise for the year ahead. We read I Promise by LeBron James and talked about the importance of making positive choices, working together, showing kindness and believing in ourselves.

In Literacy, we have been working on the comprehension skill of predicting. We read Tiddler and practised using clues from the story and our own ideas to predict what might happen next.
What a busy and exciting start we have had in Second Class! We have already had lots of fun, learning and laughter, and we are looking forward to making even more happy memories together!
