Over the past few weeks, Fifth Class have been busy developing their very own Liberties Walking Tour. As part of the project, the students researched local landmarks, streets, historical figures and the rich history of the Liberties area.
Working in pairs, the students gathered and organised their information before coming together as a class to create interactive scripts for younger pupils to use during the tour. A detailed tour map to help guide participants on their journey, was also created.
This week, all their hard work came to life as Fifth Class brought the two Third Class groups on walking tours. The tours were a huge success, with both classes working together enthusiastically to make the most of this unique learning experience.
We were especially delighted to welcome local historian Liz Gillis, who joined us on one of the tours. It was a wonderful opportunity for the students to share their knowledge with someone so passionate about the history of the Liberties.
There are definitely some future teachers and tour guides among our Fifth Class students! Well done to everyone for their hard work, teamwork and enthusiasm throughout this fantatsic project.
