Hello my lovely girls smile

Great to have seen some of you last week on Google Classroom. Hopefully more of you will join next Wednesday at 11.am. Could everyone try to be on time for next week thank you.

The password is warrenmount. We will be going over English spellings and their meanings. We will correct Mental Maths week 24. We will also look at Irish spellings too, so please have that work ready on Wednesday thank you.

Some of you have loaded videos up on google classroom. If you could all pick your favourite moment in 6th class and describe why you enjoyed it. Start the sentence with, my name is….. and my favourite moment in sixth class was……. Because…. (describe how it made you feel and why ).

We will put them all together and make a video for the end of year.

ENGLISH

Reading

Continue reading a chapter of your novels each day. If any of you have finished your novel please read your library books daily.

There is also a great website called storyberries.com with loads of different stories for all levels. If you click in to 10-12 year old content. You could choose to add this to your reading once a week.

Also you can download free audible books on www.allyoucanbooks.com

Handwriting

Continue to do ½ a page of handwriting Monday to Friday.

If anyone is finished their handwriting book there is a great website called www.handwritingpractice.net which is very helpful.

Writing

Cjfallon.ie are offering free access to children and teachers during this period. If you click on top link that says Important Notice- It’s in a Yellow box

Then click primary 6th class and then subject English and then click the book “A way with words”, you can log in by giving an email address and your name.

This week if you could do Unit 7 “On the Run” P34 -37 read the comprehension and answer the questions on p35, p36 and p37.

Spellings for the week

Please do 4 spellings a week to learn and put into sentences. Use online dictionaries to look up definitions and please write these definitions down. If parents could do a spelling test at the end of the week to help the girls stay on task that would be great.

Reading groups who are reading Sleeping Baobab read chapter 9 and 10 and do a synopsis of the two chapters. Write 10 sentences for each chapter and include the main events of each chapter.

Group reading Peppermint Pig by Nina Bawden-

Can you reread chapter 11 and 12 and do a synopsis of each chapter.

Your synopsis should be no more than 10 sentences, giving the important information in each chapter. Read over your work and see if the synopsis makes sense and contains the important information.

Maths

Tables 3X and 5X X7. Practice during the week and ask your parents to give you a test on a Friday along with English and Irish spellings to keep you on track.

Continue a week of mental maths Monday to Friday.

If you log on again to cjfallon.ie and go to 6th class Maths section. Click on the book “Busy at Maths”. I want to revise topics over the next few weeks so there are a lot of work on each page so take your time to complete each one.

Irish

Go into cjfallon and click on 6thclass and subject “gaeilge” if you don’t have your Irish book. Go to audio section and listen to the story you read last week unit 16 La gan eide scoile. After listening to page 98, pause and read it yourself. Do the same with page 99, listen to audio and then read it yourself. This will help your reading fluency. I went over the translation of the questions with you on google classroom so could you do B cupla ceist p 100 1 to 10 and I’ll be correcting them on Wednesday.

Geography:

On CJ fallon can you click into 6th class subject Atlas and Map Assessment 2. If you could look at the map of Europe on page 6 and fill in the assessment page 7. You can look up a European map online to help you.

History:

On CJ fallon website click into 6th class SESE and click on History Quest. Go to chapter 11 World War 2 and read p 92 -94. This is revision as we have covered World War 2 and answer the questions in activity A. Question 1 to 5.

SPHE:

In the notebooks I sent you could you write 3 good things that happen each day. You could write these in the evening. Also write 3 things you are looking forward to tomorrow.

It also would be a good idea to keep meditating as we’d being doing in class as this will be helpful to you if you are anxious or unsettled at this time.
