Junior and Senior Infants

Monday June 22nd - Friday 26th

Hello everyone! We will be learning all aboutOur Summer Holidays.

This is our last week of online work for the year. Well done on the fantastic work you have done this year and I have enjoyed working with you all. Have a lovely summer and I am looking forward to seeing you all in September!

1. First, have a discussion about the picture. What do you like about summer? Have you been on a holiday before? (in Ireland or outside of Ireland?). This year is especially difficult because some people will not be going on holidays because of the coronavirus but we can always enjoy the summer holidays from the comfort of our own homes!

2. Next, have a look at the picture below and learn some new summer words. You might remember some of these words from our learning last week on sun safety and the beach.

3. Story: Click on the link below and listen to 'Summertime Bounce!'. Look at the front cover, do you know the place where the story takes place? This is called the setting.

Games/Activities:

-Sound game: This game is for 2 players. Sound out one of the words on the summer word list above. If i said 'L', what word do you think i chose? (Lemonade).

-Word tennis: 2 players, first player says a word about our summer holidays and the second player replies with another . Keep going until a player can't think of any more.

-My Summer list: Ask an adult to help you make this list (it can be drawn or written by an adult). Think of what you want to for your summer holidays and make a plan. Maybe going to the beach or the park, building a sandcastle, having a picnic or maybe learning to ride a bike outside.
