Monday June 22nd - 26th

Hello everyone! We will be learning all aboutOur Summer Holidays.

This is our last week of online work for the year. Well done on the fantastic work you have done this year and I have enjoyed working with you all. Have a lovely summer and I am looking forward to seeing you all in September!

1. First, look at the picture above and discuss what you already know about summer. Have you been on a holiday before? Was it in Ireland or did you go on an aeroplane or boat? What kind of things do people do on their summer holidays?

2.Here is a summer word list. Do you remember some of the words from the work we did on the beach and sun safety?

Questions:

  • What would I use if I wanted to cook food outside?
  • What would I use if I wanted to sleep outside?
  • Name the items you can eat.
  • Name the items you can wear.

3. Poem: Summer, Summer:

Games:

-Bingo: 2-4 players. Divide a sheet into 6 parts. Choose 6 new words you have learned to write and the first person to cross out all their words and say BINGO wins!

-Word tennis: 2 players, use the new words you have learned. The first player choose a word and the second player replies with another. Keep going until a player can't think of any more words.

Reading:

Log on to https://home.oxfordowl.co.uk/ to access their free e-book library. Please chose a book a day to read. There are a number of Biff, Chip and Kipper books that the children are familiar with and some non-fiction books that we have been reading also.

Sight words:

Chose a list each week to read all of the words in the list (This week we will revise all the lists!)
