Hello everyone! This is our last week of online learning for the year. I will include a book review you can do on any book of your choice that we've read on Oxford owl. Also, you can finish some of last week's activities if you haven't done so already . You can continue using the Oxford owl website over the summer holidays if you wish.
Well done to you all for the fantastic work you have done this year. I hope you have a lovely summer and I am looking forward to seeing you again in September!

Book Review
After reading activites:
You can choose any book you have read so far on Oxfordowl to do the following activities:
-Below are some after reading activities. They will be up for the next 2 weeks so there is no rush to get them done by the end of the week. Maybe choose 2 to do and 2 next week. Please email a photo of any work you do to my email below if you would like, I would love to see how you are all getting on!
Use this activity to write questions underneath the question word. Ask a parent or friend to read the book and use the fortune teller to ask them questions about it.
Before reading: Discuss the author, illustrator, title of the book and the blurb.
Remember our Building Bridges strategies and actions that we have been learning to help us understand what we are reading. So far we have learned how to:
-Make predictions (thinking about what might happen before and during reading).
-Make connections (thinking about how the text relates to ourselves, another book/film or the wider world).
-Visualise (creating images in our minds about the story).
-Declunk (If you don't understand a word you're reading you can declunk it! Break it up, peel back the word or use a dictionary).
-Question (ask questions about the text before, during and after reading).
-Clarify (asking for further information about the text).
Please listen to your child read and practice using these strategies (They will be familiar with all of them!).
Feel free to contact me at Helena.staunton@warrenmountprimary.com if you have any questions about the above work.
All the best!
